Student Testimonials

My name is Shante and I’m in the 11th grade.  Before I was in Progressions, I felt like I wasn't going to accomplish anything in life.  I didn't have any goals and my grades in school were dropping.  Before Progressions, I felt I wasn't able to accomplish anything, now I feel like I have a bright future and great goals that can lead me in the right path in life.  The workshops helped me control my anger.  I used what I learned at home and I feel much better about my decisions.   When I graduate from high school I want to go to college to become a Chef.  My Success Coach helped me stay positive.  One day I will be successful because now I believe I can.  I’m glad came here; I feel that I am ready to be an adult.

My name is Kahlil and I’m in the 8th grade.  Before being in the program I was doing bad in my classes and I didn’t like doing things.  The program helped me a lot.  I’m doing better than before.  I’m helping my mom out a lot and I think I am ready for this school year.  My goal is to graduate high school and be in the FBI.  I want to be in the FBI to learn things and be able to help people.

My name is Abby Finn and I’m in the 11th grade.  Before Progressions, I was lost.  I didn't have a good relationship with my family and began making bad decisions.  Since I came here, my eyes were opened to the importance of not giving into temptations since the risks will not outweigh the benefits.  Through setting goals at home, I believe I have bettered my relationships with my parents.  I plan on going to UNC and majoring in Clinical Psychology.  I am proud of this career goal and glad I am back on the right track.

My name is Antonio Jones and I am 14 years of age.  Before coming to Progressions, I didn't have a lot of friends and had too much freedom.  Since coming to the program my life has changed.  I have good behavior, positive thoughts, and a good attitude.  My career goal is to be an auto mechanic.

My name is Marquin and I’m in the 10th grade.  Before I came to this program I was not home a lot and was always out looking for fun.  I got in trouble a lot with others and would fight a lot.  I was so focused on having fun and not focused on my grades and doing right.  Since I've been in this program, I've learned a lot.  Getting in trouble isn't cool or fun.  My grades have improved and I’m proud of myself.  When I graduate high school I want to go to Law School.  I want to study criminal law and help people.

My name is Janiah and I’m in the 9th grade.  Before being in Progressions, I didn't have as much knowledge on how important the decisions I make now will affect my future.  I was careless about some of my choices, but now I think things out before making a choice.  Now I've set goals for school and home.  I always try to complete my chores before going out with friends and I always study for at least one hour before a test.  It has helped me improve my test scores and not get in trouble.  After I graduate high school, I plan on going to a 4 year university.  In all, I want to complete my long term goals and be successful in showing my family I can complete school and be somebody in life.

My name is Quavon and I am in the 9th grade.  Before being in Progressions, I didn’t care too much about school and I just wanted to hang out with my friends rather than go to class on time.  I didn’t do my school work or listen to teachers.  Now I go to class on time every day that’s a huge achievement for me.  I had all E’s in all of my classes and now am working to get my grades up. From the lessons in the workshops I have learned to obey the law, not hang out with my friends who steal, and I have not gotten in any trouble.  When I graduate from high school I’m going to go to college to become a biologist.

My name is Robyn and I’m in the 9th grade.  Before I came to Progressions I didn’t know what to do with my life.  I skipped school, didn’t do any school work, and I lied a lot. I consider myself a 100% improved person from before I was in Progressions.  I now have responsibility and I know how I want to spend my life. I don’t skip; in fact I love going to school because I look forward to getting an education and making something with my life.  I’m glad I got to experience this program.

My name is Victoria and I’m going into the 8th grade.  Before being in Progressions, I disrespected my mom a lot and my sisters too.  I also stole one time, and I always wanted to be with my friends.  But after the workshops at the program, I’ve learned that I need to respect my family, myself, and everyone else around me.  When I graduate high school, I want to be a cosmetologist.
