Character Matters

Without outside assistance, schools often lack the resources to reinforce foundational character skills necessary for students to achieve their best academically, in the community and in the workplace.

I Have, I Will, I See

“Character skills rival IQ in predicting educational attainment, labor market success, health, and criminality.” - Hekman and Kautz in Fostering and Measuring Skills: Interventions that improve character and cognition. (pg. 4)

Character skills including awareness and control of one’s own thoughts and feelings, and the ability to set goals, bounce back from adversity and overcome obstacles equip students with what’s required to learn and apply academic skills.  Students who develop these character skills are much more likely to succeed in school, the community and the workplace.
